DAVID BRYAN "LUNAR ECLIPSE"

Rounder Records has issued the solo piano and synthesizer album of Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan "Lunar Eclipse".

If you only know David Bryan from his hardworking keyboard role in Bon Jovi, then you only know a part of the story. The whole truth is that David is a highly trained pianist with a deep classical background. His first solo album Lunar Eclipse showcases his flawless grand piano technique and compositional skills. Though there are elements of jazz, blues and new age, this instrumental collection presents David's classical-meets-rock style and carves a new niche in the progressive rock totem (Roy-Bittan-meets-Liszt as Bob Doerschuk put it in the Keyboard magazine article).

Lunar Eclipse is a collection of contemporary piano-driven instrumentals, melodic with tunes that come from the heart. There are 15 tracks, including the sweet poetic majesty of "Kissed By An Angel" and "Lullaby For Two Moons", a pair of touching tunes Bryan wrote for his twins. There's the stomping barrelhouse bounce of "Room Full Of Blues", there's his homage to Horowitz, "Endless Horizon", and a completely different take on the Bon Jovi hit "In These Arms". And there are pieces composed for film scores with album co-producer Larry Fast.

Lunar Eclipse is a reissue of a CD previously released as On A Full Moon. The CD has two new solo piano tracks, new cover art and a new name. Otherwise it's the same great record that got overlooked a few years ago getting the new chance to be heard that it deserves.

If you've got the old version, hang onto it; you might have a collectors item.
