From: S A Rudy Subject: Re: ENIGMA CAST UPDATE Jane Melissa Ford, aka the Gladiatrix Author/Player: Sylvia A. Rudy Conditions for Use: Jane's mother has been grooming her for a career as a hero all of her life. She doesn't actually mind saving the world and protecting the innocent, but she could seriously do without the backseat driver. She's also only been doing this for a few months and is still a little self-conscious, especially about the Xena-meets-Ben-Hur outfit and the silly name. She has the training and the theory down cold. She's an expert in several forms of martial arts, and if its a weapon, she probably knows how to use it. She's also developing a sort of mystical ability to sense flows of life energy, which is really weirding her out becuase she always thought her mom was making that part up. Jane's mother was the Gladiatrix for quite some time before her and semi-retired when Jane was born. She's now completely retired (at least theoretically) and is maybe a little too interested in her daughter's custodianship of the heoric identity. We don't know who Jane's father is, although that may well come up as a plot point some day. As far as using her - go with the standard "Just don't go overboard" policy (I trust you guys). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A few extra notes now. Jane is 18. Her mother wouldn't let her do the hero thing until she turned 18 because of all the horrible things that happen to kid sidekicks. For secret ID purposes, Jane wears a mousy brown wig. This is actually her natural color (she cut and bleached her hair for the Gladiatrix gig). She hasn't decided whether or not to affect glasses. Jane doesn't make any secret of the fact that she's the original Gladiatrix's daughter, but until she appeared, nobody knew that Melissa *had* a daughter. Melissa dropped out of the hero business because of her pregnancy (and the duties of motherhood), but kept it a secret even from other heroes. She did resume the Gladiatrix role a few times since having Jane, but only during the really big crises.
