Story:

Matt was a merchant from Narth encountered by the party on one of the planes of Kirje as they progressed towards finding the Ring of Sovereignty. His only explanation of why he was on the plane (which was almost entirely crystalline in nature) was that he had hitched a lift from a mage so that he could collect otherworldly jewels. But he neglected to arrange transportation home...

He accompanied the party on the remainder of their quest, although not always helpfully, simply because they could get him home. When they returned to Narth, he went his separate way, but could always come back...

Although a merchant, Matt was not motivated by greed, although he did keep an eye open for all potential profits.
