Polished Turn Signals
The OEM turn signal lenses have raised lettering on them. Not sure why. I suppose we really *need* to see mazda indentifaction on a tiny piece of plastic using a 2mm font.
You can clearly see the raised lettering and logos all over the OEM turn signal. Yuck!
If you did not know already that the OEM one had raised lettering, you would probably think this polished one was normal. Here is what Chris had to say on this issue:
Get wet paper ranging from 220 to about 1200-1500.
Get water in a bucket.
Get a comfy chair.
Either:
- watch the world go by from the front porch or
- watch Star Wars while being fueled by Jack & Cokes
Sand off the letters with the 220.
Switch to the next grade (320 or 400) and sand until you think the 220
grit marks are gone.
Switch up to the next (600) and repeat
800, repeat
1000, repeat
1200, repeat
(etc)
Then use Meg's cleaner, followed by polish.
Better solution: Use Eastwood's plastic polish which would probably allow you to stop sanding at about 600 or so...
