The Thrill of Driving

Cars are meant to be driven as well as seen. There is no bigger travesty then seeing early M1's being sold with less then 10K on the odometer. If you want something to speculate as an investment and look at, I suggest attending some local art shows. If you have a car, especially miata, that you rarely run I sincerely hope your son is named Cameron and he has a friend named Ferris.

With that rant out of the way, lets get onto the business at hand: how I drive my miata. In a word: everywhere I can. My OTM is my main performance driving car, and the one I participate more in SCCA and driving school events. That does not mean Tatjana is any less a performer. In the back roads of Bucks county, she is very much at home. I simply have a lot of time and parts invested in the OTM as the competition car, and I don't want to repeat the process with Tatjana at this time.

  • Bell MAG-4 SA95 rated helmet
More for the driver than the car, but required by many race sanctioning organizations. This is a very good open faced helmet that is SA rated. For autoX you only need an M rated helmet, however if you ever think you may want to go to a track or driving school, invest in the SA rated helmet up front.
