A massive black hole has been found in the center of the galaxy M87, which is about 50 million light years away. Using NASA's Hubble Space Telescope, astronomers measured the velocity of hot gas as it orbits around an unseen object. They concluded that only a black hole can produce enough gravity to explain the tremendous speed of the gas.
