HEAT STROKE
(Hyperpyrexia)
What is it ?
A condition in dogs characterized by high body temperature, (105-110
degrees F), often causing permanent brain damage or death.
What causes it ?
Most often it is caused by owners who leave their dogs unattended in
a parked car in warm or hot weather. High humidity contributes to the likelihood
of heat stroke occurring.
What are the symptoms ?
How to prevent it ?
What to do if heat stroke occurs ?
The most important thing is rapid cooling of the dog which may be accomplished
by one or all of the following :
Be sure to take your dog to veterinarian as soon as possible,
as symptoms may reappear.
