Welcome to the website of Robert M. Schroeck, gamer, author, husband and a few other things. While there's no small amount of self-promotion and personal ego gratification to be found here, the major reason for this website is to provide support and information for many of the gameworlds that I have had published or in which I currently run games. I maintain an Amazon.com Associate bookstore on this site for those who are interested in buying my or others' books. I have posted information and links on Internet Free Speech, for those who care about the issue, as well as the usual smattering of links out of the site that are representative of a sample of my interests. I also provide game schedule information for my friends as a courtesy.

If you are viewing this page graphically, links to these subsections of the site are handled through the buttons running along the green border to the left. Text-only viewers will have a menu of links available at the top of the page. A text-only menu is also provided at the bottom of the page for those of you too lazy to scroll back to the top. <grin>

Thank you for visiting my site, and I hope you have fun and find whatever it is you're looking for!

And now, the news...

Access Denied! News

Latest Update: 3 August 2007

Welcome back, my friends, to the show that never ends...

Okay, just under three months to update. Much better than the last couple times.

Also better is that Chris and I have managed to turn around yet another chapter of Drunkard's Walk V, this time in just six months. That makes it the third chapter released so far this year. If you haven't already, go read Chapter Five and enjoy.

And since you're wondering after reading that when you'll get to see more, I think it's entirely possible that Chris and I could have the sixth and final chapter of this story written and released by the end of the year. I make no promises, but if the writing is as easy as it was on chapter five, we stand a really good chance of closing the story along with the year.

Naturally, with the new chapter there are new entries in the DW5 Concordance -- a lot of them.

The Fenspace project continues apace on my Forums. Stories are being written with surprising alacrity, and extensive guides for writers now available for anyone who wants to join in. I highly recommend checking it out. It's an open world, which means if you want to join the storytelling, just read the background info so you know the ground rules, and jump on in.

Just as a reminder, there are two other shared-world projects in the forums as well, although neither of them is quite as big as Fenspace at the moment. In The Legendary forum, we have fiction set around the City of Heroes supergroup The Legendary, based on the Virtue server. We also have a smaller project currently housed there in a single thread called "Virtue Is Its Own Reward", about a cosmic accident which turned everyone playing on the Virtue server at a specific moment into the characters they were playing -- and the chaos which ensues in the real world in the days and weeks afterwards.

In other news, my efforts to redesign/revamp this website are currently stagnant. I got distracted, let the project lapse, and now I have to go back to it and refresh myself on what I've done.

And I think that's everything. See you at the next update.

What's New on the Site:

In addition to the new chapter of Drunkard's Walk V mentioned above, and the new concordance entries, there have been a couple other changes/additions.

The Drunkard's Walk FAQ has undergone a couple of small changes, including fixes to a few broken links.

Finally, there is a new entry on the "Fanfic Squared" page -- Rob Kelk's new story Legend of Galactic Girls, which is a genuine triple threat: Fenspace, Drunkard's Walk and Girls, Girls, Girls all in one fic. At the moment only the prologue is complete, but he assures me that more will be forthcoming.
